What a diabetic foot check involves

The assessment tests the two things diabetes puts at risk. Circulation is checked by feeling the foot pulses and, where useful, with a Doppler; sensation is tested with a monofilament and tuning fork so we know exactly what your feet can and can't feel. We also examine the skin, nails and foot shape for pressure points and early problems. You leave knowing your risk level in plain English, with a written summary you can share with your GP or diabetes team.
